Anny Fréchette Studio

Anny Fréchette Studio

What kind of Art/Crafts do you do?
Sewing, knitting and recycling!

Where do you create?

I have a studio in my beautiful old house. I’m a French-Canadian who lives in a small village by the St-Lawrence River a few miles away from Quebec City, Canada.

How do you keep all your supplies organised?
It’s a big challenge! I receive many left over from cutting (table waste) from manufacturer and from designer. And I have so many pair of jeans to be classified. I classify my fabrics according to the custom which I am going to make it: quilts, doll clothes, bags, etc. I put them in bags and I tidy up them almost everywhere in the house (wardrobe, basement..). I also have big cupboards to tidy up the smallest quantities and the new fabrics.

How do you keep yourself motivated to keep your space tidy?
I try to finish my current productions before taking out the other thing.

Any tips for how to keep art spaces tidy or organised?
I bought many beautiful boxes to keep stuffs. Clipboards are perfect to keep my sketch all together.

Do you get stressed out when your space gets in a mess?
Yes.

If you could have your dream space tomorrow what would it look like?
I would like very much working outside.... But it is impossible because of my sewing machines and of the climate of Quebec...

Do space limitations get in the way of projects you have in mind?
I would like maybe later to weave but it is going to need to enlarge the house...

What is the next big thing on your wish list for your art space?
I would like new colors for walls.

Where can people view your work or purchase it?
