Jay Anderson's Working Space

Jay Anderson’s Working Space

What kind of Art/Crafts do you do?
I work within graphic design, illustration and textiles, often mixing them up. Got interested in screen printing again) as I hadn’t done a lot since leaving art school) l but that requires a bit of organisation as I have to book in to a studio to do that.

Where do you create?

My dining room table gets attacked with art materials and references – I’ve also got my mac there too!

How do you keep all your supplies organised?
Oh! A big art toolbox and some stackable boxes for my sourced materials and happy finds.

How do you keep yourself motivated to keep your space tidy?
If I kept my space tidy I wouldn’t want to do anything so when I’m working I keep all the work out so I can just start whenever….

Any tips for how to keep art spaces tidy or organised?
Argh! Wrong question for me but space saving boxes with lids that you can see through helps! I’m needing somewhere to store my completed work.

Do you get stressed out when your space gets in a mess?
Only sometimes, but usually when I’ve completed something and then I clear everything and start again. I suppose it’s me clearing my mind for the next stage.

If you could have your dream space tomorrow what would it look like?
Good light, couple of tables, computer area, screen printing space, big metal sink, drying racks, wall of windows, storage, room with a wonderful view, music and a kettle.

Do space limitations get in the way of projects you have in mind?
Perhaps developing the hand printing side might be fun.

  2. I'm always curious about where people create - I thought I was the only one. Thanks for highlighting me Ann - and I love Ireland by the way! love the people and the accents, only gone down as far as 20 miles south of Dublin! But visit Belfast regularly!
