Balanced Crafts Studio

What kind of Art/Crafts do you do?
I am a jewellery artist. I make unique bead-woven and metal worked pieces.
Where do you do your art/crafts?
In a spare/guest room upstairs turned studio, beading I usually do downstairs on the couch while watching movies.

How do you keep all your supplies organised?
With many, many organisational materials. Containers, boxes, folders, drawers, jars, baskets... anything you can put stuff into. Labeling is a big thing of mine, also.

How do you keep yourself motivated to keep your space tidy?
I think that just comes naturally to me, the desire to organise. I think it comes from having to share a room when I was young, everything was very, "this is mine, this is yours". :P

Any tips for how to keep art spaces tidy or organised?
Like I mentioned above, many, many organisatonal materials. I love to recycle and re-use things. Jars, baskets, anything really. Also, I have specific areas for things. For instance, a shipping area, a packaging area, inventory area, etc. It makes packaging up orders much less time consuming.

Do you get stressed out when your space gets in a mess?
nah, I just shut the door and walk away. I come back later with a fresh perspective.

If you could have your dream space tomorrow what would it look like?
It would have a lot of space, a LOT of shelves, a lot of natural light and it would be nice and warm.

Is there any craft you would love to do but cant due to limitations of your art space?
I would love a safer work space for soldering. I can do smaller, simpler projects in the set up I have now, but my dream is an actual workshop, without carpets.
What is the next big thing on your wish list for your art space?
I have an addiction to tools, so there are many things on my wish list. But, the big one is a new Lortone tumbler. I've asked Santa for one and am keeping my fingers crossed.

Is there a website for people to see or buy your art/crafts?
of course! http://www.etsy.com/shop/Balanced
