Felicia's Scrapzville Studio

What kind of arts / crafts do you do?
I started off as a paper crafter, I was introduced to 12x12 scrapbook pages but that was short lived – now its altered art and mini books. Then I did an online mixed media art course and haven’t looked back.

Where do you do your arts/crafts?
When my family couldn’t eat their dinner because they couldn’t find the kitchen table under all the “stuff” we built a desk and shelving area on the landing. Its tiny but organised.

How do you keep your supplies organised?
I keep most things in boxes or baskets, things that I use often are on open shelves. Occasionally I go through the boxes and find supplies I’d forgotten I had, in that respect baskets are better.

How do you keep yourself motivated to keep your space tidy?
Because the desk area is so small it’s a case of having to – while I’m working a lot of things get left on the floor and the desk is cluttered. In between projects I always tidy everything away.

Any tips on how to keep art spaces tidy and organised?
No, but I’d be happy to hear some!!

Do you get stressed out when your space gets in a mess?
Only when I start to loose things , when tools get lost in the junk, then its time to clean up the mess.

If you could have your dream space tomorrow what would it look like?
Well, (big dreamy sigh…) it would be a room that is light with a stove to keep it cosy, two desks, one for the computer and printer and a big table for creating. Also a kitchen Island (because sometimes its nice to paint standing up) and loads of shelves for books and cupboards for storage. Oh and a place to keep my sewing machine set up permanently, and an armchair for days when you just want to drink tea and read art books.

Is there any craft you would like to do but can’t due to limitations of your art space?
Yes, bigger paintings! And I’d like to try quilting but that takes a lot of space.

What is the next big thing on your wish list for your art space?
I’m pretty content with what I have, unless we happen to move house any time soon and then the room described above is my wish!

Is there a website for people to see or buy your art/craft?
Yes, my website is www.scrapzville.com – there you will find a link to my Etsy shop, my blog and the gallery, there is also a contact page there.

Thanks to Felicia for letting me publish her studio photos and for taking the time to answer my questions. Thank you!
