Missy Bonkers/Tina O’Rourke's Studio

Missy Bonkers/Tina O’Rourke's Studio

Missy Bonkers is an independent Galway Based clothing label, specializing in restyled, recycled clothing, accessories and toys. Also selected vintage, handbags and bespoke designs.

What kind of Art/Crafts do you do?
I love all kinds of Arts and Crafts, but I primarily make clothes, bags, soft toys and crochet wear.

Where do you create?
I have had various studios over the past few years, at the moment I work from a spare room/studio at home.

How do you keep all your supplies organised?
I am a bit of a neat freak in all aspects of my life but my studio usually gets the better of me, I use lots of boxes, shelves and labels but when I am working on a project all efforts to keep the studio tidy goes out the window.

How do you keep yourself motivated to keep your space tidy?
I would say I’m intermittently motivated, when I am working on a project I am surrounded by organized chaos, when I am done, I return to being a neat freak.

Any tips for how to keep art spaces tidy or organised?
What works for me is, when I finish a specific set of items I am making, I do a complete tidy.

Do you get stressed out when your space gets in a mess?
Yes, after I have finished what I am making, not at all during it.

Do space limitations get in the way of projects you have in mind?
No, if there is anything I want to try, I usually will find the space.

What is the next big thing on your wish list for your art space?
My own gallery/shop space attached to my studio

If you could have your dream space tomorrow what would it look like?
A huge, rambling barn with moveable walls adjusting to the space I need at any given time. Walls on wheels :)

Where can people view your work or purchase it?

Thanks to Tina for allowing me to publish her studio photos and for taking time to answer my questions! Thank you!

  1. This is great. However, did you know all the links are showing up as broken, other than that first one, which is an incomplete page? I went to find out more about what she makes and couldn't find any information. :-(
