Cherry Blossom Tattoo's Studio Space

What kind of Art/Crafts do you do?
I'm a photographer and also make small flower brooches and do some embroidery hoops (I just have a love for buttons and felt!)

Where do you do your art/crafts?
We have moved into a new house and I have the beginings of an amazing craft room. Beautiful blue walls, antique oak coloured floor and a huge white desk and red chair. I love my bookcase, my grandfather made it and eventually it will have more craft supplies and less books in it. I just need a lot more pictures on the walls and make myself some more cushions etc.

How do you keep all your supplies organised?
I have a pretty cool Ikea shelf system for things, and a little cupboard to stash away my sewing machine and fabrics in another plastic tub from Ikea. Basically I think Ikea rocks for all storage items at a great price. At the moment I am also using a really old chest of drawers to keep mount and packaging in but I can't wait to get a replacement for it. Plus there is a massive built in storage area but at the minute it just has loads of stuff in it from moving house. Oh and I also know a wine merchant and have a couple of lovely wooden wine boxes too :)

How do you keep yourself motivated to keep your space tidy?
Ah, tidy....ummmm. At the moment I'm not really engaging in the whole spending the day in the craft room thing as we have so much work to do all over the house. But luckily for me, as photographer I work everywhere and anywhere and can do stuff on my laptop or some hand sewing in any room :)

Any tips for how to keep art spaces tidy or organised?
I love to hide things away in cute boxes and my 3 little suitcases. Eventually I will have lovely shelves and a nice chest of drawers. I think if your art space is a beautiful place to be and the furtiture and storage is loved you will enjoy using it. I also keep my craft fair props in a wine box altogether so I know where all that is at any time.

Do you get stressed out when your space gets in a mess?
Yes, if I need to use it and it's messy I feel like I can't do a thing. A messy room = a messy mind. But I can just come into the living room etc and work somewhere else too, haha

If you could have your dream space tomorrow what would it look like?
It would be a lovely big room out in a large garden with a huge window for a wall looking out at the beauty and power of nature. It would have a lovely wood burner in it and a sofa and lots of shelves full of buttons and loads of art on the walls and a big deep pile rug for my dog to lounge on.

Is there any craft you would love to do but cant due to limitations of your art space?
I would love to do more refurbishment of old furniture. But it is difficult and I can only do small items. Plus I would love to know how to dressmake (and not be afraid of my sewing machine) and upholster and learn metal work and pottery and glass work - god grief I want to do everything!

What is the next big thing on your wish list for your art space?
To get rid of that chest of drawers and get some shelves in that big cupboard, oh and more art on the walls :)
